Attraction in Mallorca
Mallorca and its Mediterranean lifestyle is still one of the most popular tourist destinations for many Europeans. Olive trees side-by-side with vibrant city flair!
Mallorca means not only holiday centers on the coast, but also many beautiful small villages, the breathtaking landscape with olive groves typical of the centuries-old monasteries, beautiful beaches and wild mountains, such as the Serra de Tramuntana. For culture lovers, there is the cathedral of Saint Mary, and the collection of modern artists like Picasso and Dali at the Museum d'Art Espanyol Contemporani in the capital city of Palma.
Among the attractions include the "Cuevas de Arta", about 450 meters of cave systems with up to 20 meters high stalacites and stalagmites.
The cave system "Cuevas del Drach near Porto Christ (see below) however, is the biggest attraction in Mallorca. Visitors can select a mile-long route through the underground world of Mallorca and explore several lagoons and the famous subterranean lake "Lago Martel" by boat.
Son Marroig - between Valldemossa and Soller, it is situated high on the cliffs with a beautiful view over the sea and the surrounding breathtaking scenery.
Sat Calobra, one of the most beautiful bays on the island. An unusual serpentine road demands more from motorists that the usual routine Sunday drive. The mountain pass road winds over 12 km then descends for around 800 meters to reach the bay.
LLUC
The small village of Lluc is located in the Sierra de Tramontana mountains, a rugged region full of trees. What's more important is the Lluc monastery from the XVII and XVIII Century, and its baroque style. The monastery is situated on a 400 meters high peak in the middle of the Tramuntana mountains and is today the most important pilgrimage site on Mallorca. At the front is the image of the Virgin of "La Moreneta", the Black Madonna of Lluc, as known in the woods. Follow the road through the mountains called "The Way del Misteri", where there are bas-reliefs by Antonio Gaudi. After Lluc comes Calobra, a ravine and view of the open sea called "Torrent de Pareis".
CAP FORMENTOR
The Cap Formentor is located in the extreme north of Mallorca and is the end of the Peninsula, like a finger pointing out to the sea. A windy, but well-maintained road leads to this extreme outpost and its isolated lighthouse. Want to get away from the crowd?
ANDRATX
The village of Andratx lies in a valley at the foot of a hill. It is known as a quiet, elegant and exclusive village. Its harbor is full of luxury yachts belonging to all the well-known personalities today, and is surrounded by luxurious villas for those who seek an very special (and expensive) haven. From there you can see the castle of Sant Elm and Illot Dragonera Sat.
VALLDEMOS
In this village, with the Real Cartuja de Jesus de Nazareth, the composer Frédéric Chopin lived with the novelist George Sand from 1838 to 1839. There is also a church from the XVII Century. In the summer, piano concerts are held in the cloister dating back to the XV Century. There is a small museum exhibiting works by Miró, Tapies and July Ramis.
POLLENÇA
This is one of the most popular tourist resorts. It is a typical farming region full of charm. Of note: the church Nostra Senyor dels Angels from the XVIII Century, and the city museum (local archeology). Worth seeing in the surrounding area: El Calvari, a gothic chapel made of wood, the Alcudia muraillée from the XVI Century, the Roman theater 10 km away, the monographic museum of Pollença. The beaches: nearby at Formentor and Cala Sant Vicente.
MANACOR
Manacor is the second most important city on the island. It is famous for producing pearls, and drawings of jewelry made of pearls. Manacor also supports an important industry in furniture and objects made of glass. It has an archaeological museum, and is the home of Rafael Nadal.
CALA RATJADA
Cala Ratjada is a typical fisherman's village, but also a residential area. Discover the medieval castle of Capdepera dating from the XIII Century. Nearby is the Tour de Canyamel, a very large circular structure from the XII Century, and Cala Mesquida, a wonderful beach with sand dunes.
ALFABIA
Discover an aristocratic mansion in Majorca, a small manor house open to the public. You can sense the great influence, both in gardens and the architecture, of the Moorish style, particularly in the facades and on the ceiling.
LLUCMAJOR
8 km northeast of the city is a challenge for walkers to climb the 543 m high Puig de Randa mountain. Ramón Llul, theologian and mistique of the XVI Century spent time in the mountains to meditate and write. Reaching the top of the Puig de Randa can you have the choice of two sanctuaries: Sant Honorat from the XVI Century, and the Senyor Nostra de Gracia, shortly before reaching the climax of Sancturaire Cura built in the XVI Century, where Ramón Llul stayed when he was here. 14 km in the opposite direction, in the town of Vell Talayot Capocorb one can find remains from the megalithic period 1000 BC. The blocks are made of stone, apparently a tower with a roof made of wood. Nearby is the small but beautiful Bay of Pi, and the Church of Santanyí.
PORTO CRISTO
Porto Cristo is very near Manacor, and is a tourist town with an important nautical port. Things to visit: the Aquarium Park, with its very exotic birds. From Porto Cristo, it is very easy to visit the Coves del Drac, Coves del Hams and Coves d'Artà. Cova del Drac consists of a series of caves and the 39 meters long, the underground lake Martel, and the 177 meters long lake of Profondità. You can cross these by boat. There is also the theater cave which the town people enjoy for special events. Cova dels Hams is 500 meters long, and there is a lake called Mar de Venecia where you can ride in a boat with musicians. The Coves d'Artà caves are up to 40 meters above sea level, and offer breathtaking views. Nearby is the bay of Cala Millor and Artà.
FELANITX
This is a farming village, worth visiting due to the church of Sant Miquel from the XIII Century and its spectacular facade. 5 km from the village is the castle Santuari, where the kings of Aragon were educated in the XIVth Century.
CABRERA
Of the 5 islands this is the largest, but has never been inhabited, although used as a military base for centuries. Cabrera was declared a National Park due to the vast range of interesting flora and fauna. Here, you can find very rare reptiles and birds.

EIFFEL TOWER
The Eiffel Tower, one of the most famous monuments in the world, soaring almost 99 meters (324 feet) high and weighing 10 000 tonnes, is the symbol of the city. Built by Gustave Eiffel within 2 years, 2 months and 5 days, it featured at the 1889 World Exposition. You can reach the top by a staircase and elevator: on the 1st level there are shops, on the 2nd the Jules Verne restaurant and on the 3rd and level the visitors finally have a unique view - if the clouds are not exactly at eye level ...
NOTRE DAME DE PARIS
The biggest and most beautiful cathedral in France lies in the south-east corner of the island in the Seine, Ile de la Cité. It is a Gothic masterpiece. The towers are 69 meters high, inside the cathedral is 130 meters long, 48 meters wide and 35 meters high. Besides the architectural importance of Notre Dame, it is renowned for the monuments to poets, artists and musicians such as François Villon and Victor Hugo. Notre Dame is inseperable from the religious, political and artistic history of France.
SACRE COEUR - MONTMARTRE
Sacre Coeur is located in Montmartre: the white marble church was built from 1875 to 1919 in a Romanesque-Byzantine style and received the title of "basilica." This makes it a sacred place of pilgrimage. The forecourt of the basilica offers a spectacular view of Paris. The charming streets typical of the old town of Montmartre, the cafes and restaurants, and the artists in the square attract many tourists.
Among the most important elements of the interior are the marble sculptures, mosaics and stained glass windows, and a bell called "Savoyarde". Weighing 18 835 kg and with a diameter of 3 meters it is the biggest bell in France. The mosaics and architecture alone make it must on any tour of Paris.
AVENUE DES CHAMPS ELYSÉES
The Avenue des Champs-Élysées is not only great for shopping and strolling, but is also a place where people collect for major celebrations. Here, the Parisian assemble to share their joys and sorrows, their national pride and their doubts - for example, after football matches or the last stage of the Tour de France. From the Arc de Triomphe to the Place de la Concorde, masses of tourists flock daily past the luxury boutiques, entertainment going on in the cafes and restaurants or visit cinemas, cabarets and theaters. Le Grand Palais and Le Petit Palais, both at intersections to the Champs-Elysees offer art lovers the opportunity to visit great exhibitions and art collections.
ARC DE TRIOMPHE de l'Etoile
The Arc de Triomphe, also known as the Place de l'Étoile, is a monument in Paris at the center of the Place Charles de Gaulle. It is situated at the western end of the Champs-Élysées. In it was commissioned by Napoleon himself, to commemorate the names of generals on the inside and at the top of the arc. Below is the grave of the unknown soldier from the First World War.
PLACE DE LA CONCORDE
The Place de la Concorde is the largest square in Paris and is situated at the end of the Champs Elysées on the Seine. There are statues of the guillotine, the 3200 year old obelisk and the Maritime fountain. There is a statue at every corner of the octagonal square, each representing a French city: Bordeaux, Brest, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Nantes ...
MUSEE DU LOUVRE
The Musée du Louvre is located behind the Tuillerie gardens which connect with the Place de la Concorde. The medieval castle, palace of the kings of France, became a museum two centuries ago: the palace of the Louvre. It was one of the first museums in Europe.
The collections include works dating back to the emergence of the great ancient civilizations around the Mediterranean up to western civilization of the first half of the nineteenth century. The Louvre Museum contains over 6 000 paintings and is one of the largest museums in the world. The exhibition rooms are devoted to topics such as: Oriental antiques, Egyptian antiques, Ancient Greek, Etruscan, Roman, Islamic art, sculpture, painting and graphics. Among the best-known works in the museum include the "Venus de Milo" and the Greek sculpture Nike of Samothrace. And if only to see the smile of the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci it is always worth a visit.
Georges Pompidou
The Center National d'Art et de Culture Georges Pompidou was built on the initiative of President Georges Pompidou. A cultural institution in the heart of Paris. At around 6 million visitors per year, it is one of the most visited buildings in France.
